The country legend will hit the road this year, on on her largest North American tour in more than 20 years. She revealed her first set of dates for this journey and she will begin her Pure & Simple Tour on June 3.
Parton’s first tour stop will be in Greensboro, North Carolina, but she also announced stops all along the East Coast, in Ohio, New York, Virginia and more.
Although she’s launching a pretty big journey, Dolly admits that she wasn’t really planning to do a tour this year.
The singer’s shows will be largely acoustic, allowing her voice to shine.
“I thought, Well, I don’t really have the time; I don’t want to take the time to work up some big show with all kinds of stuff behind it, but I know I can sing. I know I’ve got all these songs. And I thought, Well, I have my stories. I have my songs."
“I’ll do a lot of talking. What else would I do, right?” she jokes. “We’re excited about the whole show."
Parton’s tour will also coincide with the release of a new double-disc album, Pure & Simple With Dolly’s Biggest Hits, which will include some brand-new songs as well as several beloved classics. An exact release date has not yet been announced, but the project is expected this summer.
