The husband & wife due finally earned their first #1 Album.
The album "Hymns That Are Important to Us" was released on February 12, and since then it topped the Billboard Top Country Albums and Top Christian Albums Charts for the week dated March 5. The project sold 70,000 units, giving Joey & Rory their best sales week ever.
Joey + Rory have had a busy February so far: In addition to releasing their Hymns album and earning chart success, they were nominated for Best Country Duo / Group Performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards, received an honor from the state of Indiana and celebrated their daughter Indiana’s second birthday.
As some of you may know, Joey has been diagnose with stage IV cervical cancer and has been wrestling against the cancer since October last year. Hymns That Are Important to Us has recorded just after Joey's cancer-related surgery and while she was receiving treatments. This is an absolute dream project for the couple since it fill also be their last album.
Rory wrote on his blog: “This is the last record that Joey and I will ever get to make and the last songs we’ll ever get to sing together, I have no desire to go on singing or performing without her.”
