Since Glen Campbell's devastating Alzheimer announcement in 2011, he has been battling this terrible decease. Campbell's wife Kim said that her husband is now in Stage 7 of the disease and is no longer able to verbally communicate.
Stage 7 means it is the final stage of Alzheimer’s disease; patients in this stage are nearing death. During this stage the Alzheimer patient lose ability to respond to their environment or communicate. While they may still be able to utter words/phrases, they have no insight into their condition and need assistance with daily activities. Patients may lose their ability to swallow in this stage. According to Kim, although he’s lost the ability to communicate verbally, he still understands the language of smiles and kisses, and he enjoys food. Shortly after Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he admitted he had peace with his situation. “I am content with it. Don’t cry over spilt milk.Get up and be a man and do what you have got to do.”
